(zie foto)
"I've just been reading with great interest the quest to find any information about Gerald Hadfield. He was my Dad's younger brother. My Dad was George Hadfield who was 4 years older than Gerald. George had three children: my elder brother Terry, myself (Vickie) and my younger sister Janet. He was married to Joyce for over 50 years and we sadly lost Mum 3 years ago and Dad 7 years ago. My dad mentioned many times about his brother being shot down as a gunner in the war.

As you know Gerald had also a brother John and a half brother Eric. John had a daughter as I remember but we lost touch with them when I was quite young ,so don't know if there were any more children from that marriage. Eric had 4 children: Linda,Susan,Michael and Peggy and was married to Ann. There was also a sister called Gladys who married Eric and they had two boys: Gerald and Vauhn.
My grandad (Gerald's dad) was George and married Jane, who died when I was 3 days old. Grandad then married Alice but after he died the family just drifted apart.
Grandad had many medals and one of them was the Croix de Guere, which Alice sold back to his regiment after his death, which upset my Dad as he would have liked to pass it down the male line.
My Dad George served in the Royal Navy and also won medals in the war which I proudly have on display.
I hope this has been useful for you so that at long last my Uncle Gerald will get some recognition for the brave battles they did at such a young age.
Thankyou for spending the time to honour him and all the others."
